Louisiana native Christine Ledoux is a self taught mixed media sculptor and mosaic artist currently living in New Orleans. Ledoux's approach is considered spontaneous mosaics. Her aesthetic is informed by rich colors, textures, and shapes found in her materials. Ledoux's work offers a contemporary tribute to the physical environment and culture through an ancient art form with influences ranging from the southern bayous to the vibrancy of the Crescent City. Ledoux designs and fabricates two and three dimensional sculptural forms of all sizes from small ornamental pieces to large permanent installations. She creates unique fused glass tile and other parts and pieces to use in her work. By combining sculptural forms and mosaics, her art offers viewers a way of seeing and engaging differently, of understanding small pieces as parts of a larger whole. Her outdoor installations are often site-specific, and are inspired by their settings. Working without a plan or pattern her unique materials guide her creative process. Ledoux’s work can be found at local galleries, art shows and festivals regionally.
